The US state of Colorado is home to the world-famous ski resorts and of course the Colorado Rockies. No wonder, with its cool mountain air and pine trees-lined picturesque scenery, Colorado is among the best places to have golf courses (and to play in them). And if you are through with golf, maybe you could do some slalom at the nearby ski resorts there.
The Beaver Creek Golf Club is located along the slopes of the Beaver Creek Mountain known for its challenging golf courses and spectacular scenery. It is one of the oldest and most established golf clubs in the Vail Valley.
This luxury golf club boasts four golf courses, each with its distinct qualities and elevation that makes golfing more challenging. But hopefully the beautiful surrounding scenery will make the play less stressful.
Located in the small town of Eagle, Colorado, this golf club was also built as part of the posh residential community Eagle Ranch. The Colorado Rockies provide a stunning backdrop while you’re hitting for the greens.
Haymaker Golf Course is located in the town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It used to be a ranch area which was turned into a 230-acre Scotland-inspired golf course (think of the rolling hills!)
Located in Glenwood Springs, this 18-hole mountain golf course sits south of Glenwood Canyon. It has 7,224 yards that feature a 495-foot increase in elevation all the way from the pro shop up to the twelth tee.
The Pole Creek Golf Club is just a 90-minute drive away from Denver, but it is situated at 8,600 above sea level and located at the north part of the Winter Park ski resort. The “Ridge 9” course is considered to be the most challenging but also most spectacular among all this golf club’s other courses.
The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks in the town of Silverthorne, Colorado, is a complete transformation from the previous Eagle’s Nest Golf Course. The improved design consists of lush, green, rolling fairways surrounded by tall pine and aspen trees, snow-capped mountains and creeks and lakes. The new golf course is still challenging but also playable.
The Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course is a golf course which is not too far from Denver International Airport. Designed by Jim Engh (who was also responsible for designing another golf course The Sanctuary), it boasts extreme elevation changes, lush surroundings, rolling fairways and spectacular views.
The Red Sky Ranch and Golf Club features two courses, the Norman and Fazio courses offer a variety of terrain for players of all skill levels. The fairway are surrounded by lush hills and forests and a highland lake.
You have to cough up a $195 fee to become a guest and hit at the greens of the Summit Course at Cordillera. But this golf course and resort, owned by the famous Jack Nicklaus, is worth the price. It takes golfing into new heights, literally, as it is nestled on the mountaintop towering over the Vail Valley (elevation at 9,000 feet!), making it one of the most dramatic golfing sites in the world.
