With remarkable natural landscapes, cleanest environment, lowest crime rate, lower taxes but higher pay, hospitable people, superb cuisine, and a high overall standard of living. Besides all these, adventures are endless with the country’s incredible mountains, rivers, and ski spots.

In Europe, excellent ski resorts are also found in Switzerland’s ski resorts, including the very famous Zermatt, Saint Moritz, Gstaad, Crans-Montana, and a lot more.

Another must-see and must-experience ski spot in Switzerland is Verbier Ski Resort. It is the best of Les 4 Vallées, the largest ski resorts globally- spanning six villages and four valleys. In the 4 Vallées comprised of ski areas in Verbier, Bruson, La Tzoumaz, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, and Thyon, winter sports enthusiasts can play their most significant asset: a premium domain, in winter as well as in summer.

They provide a network of trails for any snow sport. There is 410 km of slopes in winter, hundreds of kilometers of biking and hiking trails in summer, and an incomparable view from the top of the Mont-Fort, 3’330m, await you.

Verbier specifically, with 92 lifts and 412 kilometers of prepared pistes on one ski pass, is an excellent spot for extreme skiing, extraordinary vistas, sophisticated four to five-star lodging, a smorgasbord of dining, and tireless nightlife.

Verbier’s Big mountain skiing is on Mont Fort and Mont Gelé’s area. Mont Fort glacier at at 10,925′ is the highest elevation. It showcases a fantastic panorama of Switzerland’s big Alps – Mont Blanc (15,781′), The Matterhorn of Zermatt (14,690′), and The Dom (14,911′) from Mont Fort’s 10,925′ observation platform. Verbier’s twin peak, Mont Gelé, is reached by tram, offering 3,000′ vertical of steep un-prepared NFT (no fall terrain).

SHORT HISTORY OF SKIING AT VERBIER

Verbier’s first recorded ski experience was in 1925, with a group of hikers set off from Sembrancher, climbing 15km. In 1946, the first ski lift system was built following Swiss’government’s decision after WW2. They have seen the place’s potential to be a perfect spot for skiing and other winter sports.

The transformation of Verbier took place in the 1960s. It started as a small farming village that blossomed to be one of the leading and most visited resorts in the Swiss Alps.

In 1970, Savoleyres Gondola was created that allowed the skiers to reach and explore the 4th Valley. In 1982, visitors of the resort get up to Mont Fort for the first time as the cable-car Tortin-Col opened to the public.

The region’s economic growth was also attributed to the huge role of Televerbier company that had invested more than a massive 250m Swiss Francs into ski lift maintenance and additional builds.

Most of the slopes in the resort are suited for intermediate to expert skiers. The runs are well-groomed and wide, and there are some great runs in the other areas beyond the main Verbierslopes worth exploring. Lifts are functioning well that will be serving all the visitors wherever they wish to ski or have some other sports in the resort.

Beginners can safely enjoy the two small bunny slopes in the middle of the village, called Les Moulins and Les Esserts; these aren’t connected to any other part of the resort. There is a separate pass for these areas. Beginners will find it hard to look for friendly slopes suited to their level as the progression to intermediate runs is quick.

Verbier has a mixture of other features. It provides a ski cross course, a “fun slope” for young kids to learn some skiing and other winter sports skills, and a more advanced Snow Park with all the usual features, including an airbag for practicing bigger jumps.
