Situated in the western United States at Teton Village, Wyoming, the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a ski resort in Teton County, 20km northwest of Jackson and south of Grand Teton National Park. It is notable with its steep terrain and a large continuous vertical drop of 4,139 ft (1,262 m). The resort got its name from a historically significant Jackson Hole valley.

The ski area is 50% rated expert, 40% intermediate, and only 10% beginner. The resort is known to have challenging terrains, such as in Corbet’s Couloir.

The south-facing ApresVous Mountain terrains are suited for intermediate skiers, while Rendezvous Mountain has more advanced terrains, including bowls, glades, chutes, and Couloirs. Jackson Hole features the greatest continuous rise in the U.S. It is second to the nearby Big Sky, Montana, with an overall vertical of 4,350 feet but a steady vertical 700 feet less, and Snowmass in Colorado, which has the greatest lift-served vertical drop in the nation, 4,406 feet.

LIFTS

Besides skiable terrain in-bounds, there are larger areas that can be explored off-piste accessed through marked gates by expert skiers or snowboarders equipped with avalanche safety gear. The resort’s original aerial tram was closed in the spring of 2006 but was replaced with a new tram. It was “Big Red,” a Doppelmayr CTEC, a 100-passenger tram opened on December 20, 2008. The tram’s vertical rise is 4,139 feet to an elevation of 10,450 feet above sea level.

Before the construction of the new tram, the two seasons were served by a temporary double chairlift named East Ridge built to service the runs above the Rendezvous Mountain. This lift was later moved and renamed Marmot Chair, providing access from the Thunder Lift’s base to the Bridger Gondola summit.

Other lifts include two 8-passenger Gondolas-Bridger and Sweetwater, four high-speed detachable quad chairlifts, and eight fixed-grip chairlifts. Some recent additions include the Casper Detachable Quad in 2012 built by Leitner-Poma and the Teton Detachable Quad in 2015 created by Doppelmayr (North America).

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

Just like other ski resorts in America, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers a smorgasbord of winter and summer adventures for all ages. In the summer, visitors can enjoy bungee trampoline, hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, ropes course, rock climbing, and the Via Ferrata in the Casper Bowl at the top of the Bridger gondola. There are also children activities and evening events that are family-oriented.
