Climbing equipment purchase is very important for the safety of the climber. The cost is not always the important part of buying your climbing equipment but it does play a factor in what types of equipment that you will purchase. The type of climbing equipment will depend on the area in which you plan on climbing. There are many different types of terrain that you can climb which can vary from indoor walls to steep crevices or tall snowcapped mountains. Select the type of climbing equipment according to the area in which you will be climbing and the experience that you have as a climber.
The climbing harness is a vital part of your equipment. You are able to find the right harness in aclimbing shop. Select the right harness for indoor or outdoor climbing can be done when you ask the clerk. You can find the right size harness by testing it to see how the swing feels when you have it on you. You need to make sure that it is the right size and comfortable fit when you are wearing your harness. The climbing harness needs to be padded on both legs and waist area for you to feel comfortable when it is in use.
The next piece of climbing equipment to consider is the rock shoes. You need to make sure that they feel good on your feet with a very comfortable fit. The rock shoes helps to determine the ability you have to make your climb. You do not want to buy any shoe for style instead always think of fit and comfort. The fit can be determined by making sure that they touch the end of your toes. When you twist your foot, the shoe should be able to twist with your foot without any type of slippage.
There is climbing equipment that is miscellaneous items but they are needed in order to give you a successful climb. You will want to make sure that you have a Belay Device, or often called the DMM bug. This device is good for all-around use on ropes that are 9.0 mm to 11 mm. If you are going to use a thinner rope then you should make sure that your Belay Device fits that rope for safe rock climbing. Then finally, you will need a chalk bag to hold your chalk while you are climbing. Put the chalk bag on 1.5 mm cord so you can reach it very easily when you need it.
